Resume Rx: “Don't sweat the small stuff” is sage advice for handling many situations in life. But you can safely toss that adage out the window when it comes time to writing or updating your resume. That's because every single word counts. Meet with area employers to receive critical feedback on your resume and “elevator pitch.” You must bring a digital copy of your resume. Resume Rx will return in Spring 2021.
Mock Interview Days: Do you know how to introduce yourself beyond your major? Do you know how to talk about your strengths and answer challenging, behavior-based questions? Cleveland State's Mock Interview Day allows you to receive real-life interview experience in a safe, practice setting with top area employers! Mock Interview Day will return in Spring 2021.
Job Search Boot Camp: In this weekly series occurring every Thursday, Career Services partners with area employers to provide job search advice on focused professional development topics. Topics and employer partners vary each week--follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to keep track! Advance registration required.
Every Thursday from 1 PM to 2:30 PM; Online via Zoom. Register here.
Career Fair: We host one university-wide career fair every September, which connects CSU students to hundreds of NE Ohio area employers.
Career Conversations: Held in the Spring, this week-long brown bag lunch series features a panel of employers who will conduct a two-way conversation with students. Students are encouraged to bring any questions they have about the world of work—nothing is off limits (we’re not joking)! Employers will be prepared to tell their stories and share advice. After the panel, employers will be given a room on-site to conduct quick-hitting, private appointments with students. This time can be used for resume reviews, mock interviews, Q&As, etc. based on student and employer needs. No advance registration required.
Social Impact Career Fair: Interested in connecting with nonprofit and service organizations looking for candidates like YOU? The Social Impact Career Fair is your chance! Visit to build relationships with employers and learn about available internships, volunteer and full-time positions. This event is hosted annually in the Spring.
WHY VISIT CAREER SERVICES?
"I am so glad that I was referred to Career Services... Without your help, I would not have come across the career that I am interested in now. I am so relieved to have found a profession that aligns with my interests, skills, and values. Thank you for not only helping me to decide on a college major/future career, but also for giving me advice related to job interviews, shadowing, and networking. I will definitely continue to use Career Services as a resource in the future! I am fortunate to attend a school with advisors who are well-equipped and
genuinely eager to help me succeed."
- Mary M.
"I regret not utilizing Career Services sooner. I figured since my career path is not common and interview questions are very specific to exotic animal husbandry and behavior that it would not be helpful. However, not only did I feel much more prepared after my mock interview, my answers were very polished and it improved the way I sounded in my real interview. In addition, my mock interviewer gave me tips and tricks that I would never have known that I feel benefited me in my interview process. I encourage other students to give it a try - it can only help!"
- Megan D.
"I wanted to thank you for passing along the internship opportunity to me yesterday at the Career Conversations event. I went in expecting just an interview, and a little over 2 hours later I left with a starting date and a set follow up for the official offer. I feel like so many people don’t take advantage of career services like they should!"
